Neurodiversity for teens

Neurodiversity means everyone experiences the world differently. There’s no single ‘right’ way to think or learn, and differences aren’t problems. The world needs neurodivergent brains, many people have achieved amazing things by using their strengths.

When a group includes both neurodivergent and neurotypical people, it’s called neurodiverse. Everyone has their own strengths and differences, and no two people are the same. That’s why it’s important to treat everyone with kindness and respect because we’re all different.

Some people will notice patterns easily, focus on details, or can hyperfocus on things they enjoy. Others might prefer routines or find that moving around or stimming helps them feel calm.

Sometimes it can be harder to make friends or explain how you feel if people don’t understand neurodivergence, which can make life at home or school more challenging but support is available. This video may help to explain.
