Welcome to Medway School Nursing Service. We support children and young people from their first day at primary school until 19 years of age, including those who are home educated who attend a Medway school.
We focus on promoting the health and wellbeing of school-aged children. We can offer support and advice on many areas including:
- Healthy lifestyles and growth
- Emotional wellbeing
- Toileting
- Sleep
- Behaviour
- Managing long-term conditions and complex needs in school
- Healthy relationships
- Puberty and growing up
- Staying safe and much more.
Our leaflet provides more detailed information on the support we can provide and the
referral criteria. We have a good working relationship with other services in Medway and can help signpost and refer you to services to better meet your child’s needs. You can find our referral forms at the bottom of this webpage.
You can find lots of helpful information to support your child's development, and keep them healthy and safe in our Kent Child(opens in new tab) and Kent Teen(opens in new tab) sections.
Some young people struggle with their feelings and find this impacts on their day-to-day activities – they might seem low, or have trouble eating, sleeping or concentrating at school. Visit our emotional health and wellbeing(opens in new tab) section for more advice on supporting your child.
You can also contact the Medway School Health Service - we really want to hear from you if you feel you need more support for you and your child.
ChatHealth
ChatHealth is a text service for 11 to 19 year-olds. Young people can text with a member of our team about any physical or emotional health concerns they have. This service is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm on 07480 635 786. This service is confidential and anonymous and available to any young person at a school in Medway. Schools can download a Medway ChatHealth A3 poster and screensaver to promote the text service.

We also offer health and development questionnaires for your child to help identify any emerging health conditions or concerns. You’ll receive more information and asked if you’re happy for your child to consent via a letter.
